PM: Government accepts public service pay recommendations in full

Pay rises in the public sector need to be fair to workers and also to taxpayers who fund the services, Rishi Sunak has said.

The PM called a press conference to announce the government was accepting the independent pay review bodies’ recommendations on higher wages.

Mr Sunak said they would not be funded by borrowing or increasing taxes, but from savings in existing budgets.
