Ahead of the chancellor’s announcement, I spoke to the head of family support charity Coram, Megan Jarvis, to get her views on why this is such a key issue to solve? Jarvis says these issues are particularly acute and challenging for poorer families, pointing to Coram’s research which found the average cost of a part time childcare place for a two-year-old is over £150 a week – more than £7,000 a year.
