A former adviser on ministers’ interests has explained why his successor Lord Geidt felt he had to quit, saying he “wouldn’t have taken this decision lightly”.<\/p>\n

He told the BBC Newscast podcast that he was “really upset” that Lord Geidt, who advised the PM on the ministerial code, believed “he had no option but to resign”.<\/p>\n
