A 21-year-old woman who died after being hit by a Garda (Irish police) patrol car in County Donegal was from Londonderry. <\/p>\n
She has been named locally as Rebecca Browne from Galliagh. <\/p>\n
The incident happened at 03:15 BST on Sunday at Ludden, near Buncrana.<\/p>\n
No one else was injured in the collision.<\/p>\n
Father Michael McCaughey from the Parish of the Three Patrons in Derry visited Rebecca\u2019s family in their home on Sunday evening.<\/p>\n
“I met Rebecca\u2019s mother, father, brother and the wider family circle,” he said.<\/p>\n
“They are heartbroken and acknowledged just how much Rebecca was loved.”<\/p>\n
Donegal councillor Rena Donaghey told RT\u00c9 she believed the young woman had been with a friend in Buncrana for the weekend. <\/p>\n
A garda spokesperson said the collision has been referred to the Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na Ombudsman Commission.<\/p>\n
Garda\u00ed are appealing to anyone with information about the incident to contact them. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
