{"id":30503,"date":"2023-03-14T10:46:09","date_gmt":"2023-03-14T10:46:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fusefornews.com\/2023\/03\/14\/tom-youngs-former-leicester-and-england-hooker-on-loneliness-after-death-of-wife-tiffany\/"},"modified":"2023-03-14T10:46:09","modified_gmt":"2023-03-14T10:46:09","slug":"tom-youngs-former-leicester-and-england-hooker-on-loneliness-after-death-of-wife-tiffany","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fusefornews.com\/?p=30503","title":{"rendered":"Tom Youngs: Former Leicester and England hooker on &#8216;loneliness&#8217; after death of wife Tiffany"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1\">\n<figure class=\"gs-u-mt0 gs-u-mb-alt+ story-body__media story-body__media--figure qa-story-body-media story-body__media--lead\" data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1.$video-1\"><span class=\"gs-u-display-block story-body__media\" data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1.$video-1.0\"><span class=\"gs-u-display-block gs-o-responsive-image\" style=\"padding-bottom:56.25%;\" data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1.$video-1.0.0\"><noscript data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1.$video-1.0.0.1\"\/><\/span><\/span><figcaption class=\"gel-brevier gs-u-ph+ gs-u-pv-alt story-body__media__caption story-body__media__caption--video\" data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1.$video-1.1\">Ex-England hooker Tom Youngs speaks about the death of his wife<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p role=\"introduction\" class=\"qa-introduction gel-pica-bold\" data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-2\"><span data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-2.0\">Former England and Leicester hooker Tom Youngs has spoken about his feelings of &#8220;loneliness&#8221; after the death of his wife Tiffany.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-4\"><span data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-4.0\">&#8220;I&#8217;ve had days where I&#8217;ve thought how am I going to get through the day and I did,&#8221; he told BBC Breakfast. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-5\"><span data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-5.0\">&#8220;Never lose hope, the days get easier, life moves forward and you can enjoy life.&#8221; <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-6\"><span data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-6.0\">Tiffany was first diagnosed with a lymphatic cancer in 2014 and Youngs pulled out of England&#8217;s tour of New Zealand that summer to care for her.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-7\"><span data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-7.0\">She was told in 2018 that she was in remission, but the cancer later returned, with former Leicester Tigers captain Youngs taking <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/sport\/rugby-union\/58956163\" class=\"story-body__internal-link\" title=\"\" data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-7.$link-2\"><span data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-7.$link-2.0\">indefinite leave<\/span><\/a><span data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-7.3\"> to care for her again in October 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\"><span data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8.0\">Following retirement and Tiffany&#8217;s death, Tom is back working on the family farm, which he says has helped to combat his feeling of &#8220;loneliness&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-9\"><span data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-9.0\">He said: &#8220;I think the loneliness really hits you. But I have learned, I have gone through that and I am better for that experience because my reflection on life is better.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-10\"><span data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-10.0\">&#8220;I&#8217;m very lucky to have the farm. I want to work, I want to do that. Going through something that I have gone through, if you sit around and think too much, you drive yourself crazy.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-11\"><span data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-11.0\">Youngs also says his nine-year-old daughter Maisie gives him purpose and the &#8220;responsibility to make sure she enjoys life as well&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-12\"><span data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-12.0\">He added: &#8220;If you get that right, you can have one very resilient little girl who understands life far earlier than she should have done. You make her someone who can go and achieve a lot out of life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-13\"><span data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-13.0\">&#8220;You can&#8217;t keep getting angry about something. I don&#8217;t see the advantages of living life like that.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-14\"><span data-reactid=\".1g2lzf72q34.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-14.0\">&#8220;Never lose hope, the days get easier, life moves forward and you can enjoy life and not feel guilty about it.
