{"id":23501,"date":"2023-01-19T17:34:29","date_gmt":"2023-01-19T17:34:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fusefornews.com\/2023\/01\/19\/argos-to-close-all-stores-in-republic-of-ireland-in-june\/"},"modified":"2023-01-19T17:34:29","modified_gmt":"2023-01-19T17:34:29","slug":"argos-to-close-all-stores-in-republic-of-ireland-in-june","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fusefornews.com\/?p=23501","title":{"rendered":"Argos to close all stores in Republic of Ireland in June"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">Argos operates a bespoke model in the Republic of Ireland that is different to its UK stores.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">The company said there would be no change to the retailer\u2019s operations in Northern Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">The statement said Argos was performing well in its UK stores.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\"><b class=\"ssrcss-hmf8ql-BoldText e5tfeyi3\">&#8216;Not made this decision lightly&#8217; <\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">The company is proposing an enhanced redundancy package for staff that &#8220;goes well beyond its statutory obligations,&#8221; the statement said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">It said a small number of staff not eligible for redundancy under Irish Law would receive a one-off goodwill payment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">\u201cWe have not made this decision lightly and we are doing everything we can to support those impacted,&#8221; said Andy McClelland,\u00a0Argos Ireland operations manager.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">&#8220;On behalf of everyone at Argos I would like to thank our colleagues, customers, suppliers and partners for their support to our business,\u201d he added.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">Argos stores will remain open to customers in the Republic of Ireland until 24 June.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">Customers in Ireland will no longer be able to pay for orders via the Argos website or place orders via its home delivery service after 22 March 2023. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">Orders placed up to this date will continue to be fulfilled and customers will still be able to reserve products online and pay for them in store until the point of business closure. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">The aftersales, returns, refunds and exchanges policy will continue to apply until Argos stores close.&#13;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">Michael Meegan from the Mandate union said it was a &#8220;difficult&#8221; day for staff.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">She added that the union would be engaging with the company to get &#8220;the best possible deal for the workers who are being made redundant.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>[ad_2]<br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/cj7287r24vjo?at_medium=RSS&#038;at_campaign=KARANGA\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[ad_1] Argos operates a bespoke model in the Republic of Ireland that is different to its UK stores.
